In recent years Hope Ignited has served primarily in the countries of Guinea, West Africa and most recently Guatemala. However, countries such as Sudan, Uganda, and Kenya have also been visited. In 2010, Hope Ignited will also send teams to Haiti.
With all the countries that are in need, how do we select the countries that we visit and invest in? Well, it’s a combination of the following criteria that goes into making a country selection:
1. Do we have a Christian relationship currently in place within the country?
2. Does this leader have a plan to spread the Gospel and what specific resources do they need?
3. What is the overall “health” of the country as listed on the Human Development Index?
4. Is the country readily accessible from the U.S from an air travel and seaport standpoint?
5. What is the status of the existing government and relative safety for travelers to the country?
By evaluating a country in this manner, we can be certain that we are laying the groundwork for continued improvement in concentrated areas. We can’t be all things to all people…but by having a concentrated focus, we believe we can make the biggest impact to the people we do serve.
