Hope Ignited will be hosting the Outreach Ministry department team from San Diego’s Rock Church as they travel to Guinea, West Africa in September 2011.
Among many of the ministries at the Rock Church, the Recycling Ministry has quickly become one of the most lucrative under the direction of Tara Paul. This ministry, named D.U.H. exists to serve and save the lives of Desperate / Underprivileged / & Hungry Children living in severe poverty in Africa and other third world countries.
They accomplish this by utilizing funds raised from recycling bottles and cans to financially support what they call “Dream Projects” that directly enhance the lives of D.U.H children with things like – nutritious food, clean water sources, shelter, education, medical care and other essential needs.
LOCATION:
Conakry, Guinea.
DATES:
Aug./Sept. 2011 (Dates TBD)
COST:
$3,925/per person.
NEEDS:
20 team members, new children’s shoes, blue jeans, t-shirts, bibles (in english and french).
The September trip will be focused primarily on helping to get at least four (4) schools started in Guinea. These schools will have the potential to educate at least 1,600 children and to introduce them to the Gospel and a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ!
The Recycling Ministry has agreed to underwrite the startup cost of the schools up to an amount of $20,000.00! It is our prayer that with this money, the schools will be able to pay teachers, buy uniforms and books and even provide scholarships for orphans and other children that otherwise would never be able to attend school.
The goal is to get the schools equipped and operational so that they can be self sustaining. This assistance then becomes not a “hand-out” but a “hand-up”. Helping them to help themselves to a brighter future.
The Rock Church has been a wonderful partner and supporter of Hope Ignited by regularly sending teams not only to Guinea, West Africa but Guatemala as well. Their “Do Something” slogan has certainly proven to be a way of life for the various ministries of the Rock Church. Hope Ignited is grateful for their desire to make such a significant impact on the children of Guinea.
